Opened in 2012, Rangoon Tea House helped spark a revival of downtown Yangon's heritage quarter at a time when many colonial buildings stood empty. Founder Htet Myet Oo reimagined the classic laphet yay (tea shop) — historically a gathering place for workers, writers, and politicians — inside a restored early-20th-century shophouse on Pansodan Street, once Rangoon's financial heart. It quickly became a symbol of the city's cultural renaissance.
